Aspiring runner, aspiring writer, aspiring aspirer!
On the 19th May 2012 I decided that I was too-too unfit and needed to get into some sort of shape. Deciding that a challenge was the best way to motivate, myself and a few friends decided to enter The Great North Run in Newcastle on 16th September 2012. That meant that I had to go from ‘can’t run, won’t run’ to ‘can run, will run, have to run 13.1miles’ in four months.
I finished in 2 hours and 38 minutes and raised £300 for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Chuffed with that.
I’m now entering races here there and everywhere (mainly 10k’s) and have entered the Leeds Half Marathon next May, but will run another 1/2 Marathon somewhere along the line. I’m just in it for the medals and t-shirts.
No real plans to run a marathon as of yet, so stop asking.
Turns out I DID have plans for a marathon. My friend Rob said he was going to run a marathon, so I decided to too. Finished Blackpool Marathon on 7th April in a time of 4 hours and 55 minutes. Go me!
I use an app called Nike+ when I’m out running. It keeps track of your distance and time, plus stuff like speed and altitude. It also let’s you view what route you did on a map and share with friends.
I work as a Security Guard in Bradford full time, and in my spare time I… well I don’t get too much spare time what with all the training. Oh yeah, thats right! I’m training for Ironman Lanzarote 2015!
